The first zero-plastic waste Resort in Quang Nam

On September 9, Silk Sense Hoi An River Resort officially became the first hotel in Quang Nam to meet zero plastic waste standards.
Residents and tourists vacationing here will no longer use single-use plastic items. The hotel’s operations do not release plastic waste into the environment.

This is the result of the project “Reducing plastic waste in Vietnam’s tourism sector ” implemented by the Vietnam Tourism Association in 2023-2024, with the goal of reducing plastic waste in the tourism sector.
Mr. Vu The Binh, Chairman of the Vietnam Tourism Association, said that this project sends a message and calls for joint efforts of people, businesses, communities and tourists for the goal of waste-free tourism. plastic waste in Vietnam.
“Hoi An is a leading destination in implementing environmental protection measures in Vietnam. In the near future, we will mobilize and spread this model to provinces and cities across the country,” Mr. Binh shared.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hong, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Nam, assessed that the “plastic-free hotel” model being applied for the first time in Quang Nam is of great significance.
That is the spread for the tourism business community in the area as well as the whole country to develop a sustainable green tourism brand.
To date, in Quang Nam province, there have been more than 20 units registered to implement the Green Tourism Criteria Set, participating in the project “Reducing plastic waste in Vietnam’s tourism sector” to be implemented in 2023. -2024.
