Hoi An Promotes The Development Of Green Tourism, Saying No To Plastic Waste

Silk Sense Hoi An River Resort (Hoi An) became the first Resort in Quang Nam to have no more plastic waste released into the environment and no more single-use plastic items.

On September 9, Silk Sense Hoi An River Resort (Hoi An City) officially announced that the hotel no longer has plastic waste released into the environment and no more single-use plastic items. This is a pioneering hotel in Quang Nam province that eliminates plastic waste.

According to Mr. Tran Thai Do, investor of Silk Sense resort, with the orientation of sustainable development, has pursued an environmental protection journey from the first day of construction, by using environmentally friendly materials. schools and through programs to reduce plastic waste at hotels.

To implement the plan, the hotel has set specific criteria and solutions for each waste problem and applied it synchronously and actively to ensure complete elimination of plastic waste at the hotel.

Silk Sense Hoi An River Resort uses environmentally friendly materials such as AAC autoclaved unburned bricks to construct the entire project.

In addition, use an inverter central air conditioning system and make hot water. From the mineral salt swimming pool, Kangen water bottles, organic vegetable gardens to support visitors’ health, even from the smallest personal items in each room, only environmentally friendly equipment is used… ensuring no impact on the environment and, more broadly, the ozone layer.

Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Nam province Nguyen Thanh Hong said that Silk Sense Hoi An River Resort is the first resort in the locality that does not emit plastic waste. This is a specific action to implement the green tourism development orientation of Quang Nam province.

According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hong, Quang Nam province has promoted the implementation of the Green Tourism Criteria, as well as the Resolution of the Provincial Party Committee on building and developing Hoi An to become an ecological – cultural – tourist city.

According to the orientation, Quang Nam province will build and develop Hoi An to become a sustainable ecological – cultural – tourism city on the foundation of integrating sustainable economic factors, sustainable environment, and sustainable society solid.

Building Hoi An city into a special urban area with criteria equivalent to a type 2 urban area, including the World Cultural Heritage of Hoi An Ancient Town and the World Biosphere Reserve of Cu Lao Cham – Hoi An is the spreading nucleus to persistently implement the orientation of building an ecological – cultural – tourism city. 

By 2025, the city will basically meet the criteria equivalent to a class 2 urban area. Complete models of tourism business units to ensure they meet green tourism criteria, making Hoi An a tourist destination. Green, a typical tourist city with an attractive national and international brand, a city with synchronously invested infrastructure, clean and beautiful landscape, airy and fresh environment. 

Oriented to 2030, Hoi An city will meet criteria equivalent to a class 2 urban area. Hoi An is one of the tourism centers of the country and the region. Hoi An maintains its brand as a green tourist destination and a typical cultural urban area nationally and internationally.
