Seminar “Green Tourism Based on Quang Nam’s Culture”

On the afternoon of September 16th, in Hoi An City, the Quang Nam Provincial People’s Committee, in collaboration with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Vietnam and the Quang Nam Tourism Association, organized a workshop on “Green Tourism on a Cultural Foundation”. This activity is part of a series of events for the National Tourism Year – Quang Nam 2022 – Green Tourism Destination; aiming to commemorate the 23rd anniversary of Hoi An Ancient Town and My Son Sanctuary being recognized by UNESCO as World Cultural Heritage sites.

The workshop received the cooperation and co-organization of many sponsors such as: the German Development Cooperation Organization (GIZ), the Swiss Sustainable Tourism Program (SSTP), Silk Sense Hoi An Resort, along with the support and partnership of many businesses in Quang Nam province. At the workshop, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Tran Van Tan stated: In the coming time, Quang Nam’s tourism industry will continue to focus on developing green tourism in line with the theme of the National Tourism Year 2022. Green tourism is an inevitable trend for humanity.

Green tourism emphasizes human awareness in preserving nature, maintaining cultural identity, protecting the ecological environment and biodiversity. Quang Nam will thoroughly implement the spirit of green tourism development in each specific project, plan, product, and tourism unit. Chairman of the Quang Nam Tourism Association, Phan Xuan Thanh, shared: With the message “Green tourism based on Quang Nam’s culture,” the workshop will focus on solutions and models for the local tourism industry in building a sustainable tourism environment and green growth in the locality.

Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Phung Quang Thang, Chairman of the Hanoi Travel Association, emphasized: The workshop created a broad forum to discuss issues on the importance of developing green tourism based on Quang Nam’s culture; solutions for exploiting the unique cultural beauty of Quang Nam for green tourism development; and sharing international experiences, models, and solutions applied to green tourism development. On this occasion, the Quang Nam Green Tourism Assessment Council commended and awarded the “Green” tourism label to 11 pioneering tourism businesses that have met all the conditions according to the Quang Nam Green Tourism criteria.
