Silk Sense accompanies and pioneers the Sustainable green Tourism Community

On January 21, 2025, Silk Sense Hoi An River Resort was honored to participate in the conference on “Reducing Plastic Waste in Green Tourism,” organized by the Vietnam Tourism Association. This important event is part of the journey toward building a sustainable tourism industry, raising awareness about environmental protection, and reducing plastic waste in travel and hospitality services.
Conference on “Reducing plastic waste in Green Tourism” towards a sustainable suture
As plastic waste pollution becomes an urgent global issue, this conference focuses on sharing practical solutions, from management policies to strategies for reducing single-use plastics in the tourism industry. Delegates had the opportunity to discuss and update on successful models and innovative initiatives that help guide Vietnam’s tourism sector towards comprehensive sustainability.
At the conference, Silk Sense and other participating units were guided on how to build an environmentally friendly tourism system, from eliminating single-use plastics and replacing them with recycled products to implementing strategies that raise awareness among communities and tourists about environmental protection responsibilities.
Silk Sense – A pioneer in Zero-plastic Tourism
During the event, Ms. Hà Thị Diệu Viên, General Manager of Silk Sense Hoi An River Resort, represented the resort in receiving a certificate of merit from the Vietnam Tourism Association for its positive contributions to green tourism development. This recognition is a well-deserved acknowledgment of Silk Sense’s persistent efforts in environmental protection.
As one of the pioneering resorts with a “Zero-plastic” model, Silk Sense has been implementing numerous initiatives aimed at fostering a sustainable tourism ecosystem:
- Reducing over 54,000 plastic bottles annually, replacing them with reusable glass bottles.
- Eliminating plastic straws, plastic containers, and plastic bags across the entire resort.
- Utilizing eco-friendly materials in design, from recycled wood furniture to natural bamboo and rattan products.
- Establishing the Caman Village organic garden to provide clean food and reduce emissions from the supply chain.
- Organizing activities to raise environmental awareness among staff and guests through green experience programs.
