Quang Nam: The First Hotel To Announce No More Plastic Waste

(SGTT) – Silk Sense Hoi An River Resort in Hoi An city, Quang Nam province announced on September 9 that the hotel no longer releases plastic waste into the environment and no longer uses single-use plastic items. According to reports from the Saigon Economic newspaper group.

The plastic waste-free hotel criteria at Silk Sense Resort are referenced based on the green tourism criteria set of Quang Nam province, Travelife’s set of criteria, as well as the advice of SSTP (Swiss Sustainable Tourism Program). and guidelines of the Vietnam Tourism Association. Besides, Silk Sense Resort’s criteria are based on the actual needs of the hotel.
According to records, Silk Sense Resort uses an inverter central air conditioning system that both runs the air conditioner and helps make hot water to save electricity, the swimming pool is filtered with chlorine-free mineral salt, and Kangen water bottles (electric water) are used. alkaline ion solution) using glass instead of plastic bottles.
Besides, the amount of garbage from the kitchen or excess food will be sorted and processed. Organic waste will be utilized as organic fertilizer using the Waste2Green organic waste recycling machine.
In addition, the resort extends the life of disposable paper and plastic cups through the Green Cups project. Use disposable cups to plant trees with the message “Disposable cups are not trash”, Mr. Do said.
Mr. Do also said that the resort will gradually not accept plastic waste, whether coming from customers or partners. If guests do not bring plastic waste with them, they can send it back to the unit for a fee to handle the waste. this type of plastic waste.
At the announcement, Mr. Vu The Binh, Chairman of the Vietnam Tourism Association, shared that plastic-free hotels are a specific action of businesses, meaningful in spreading the word to the tourism business community. tourism not only in Hoi An but across the country, implementing sustainable tourism development in Vietnam.
