Mr. Tran Thai Do, Investor Silk Sense Resort confirmed, Silk Sense Hoi An River Resort (Hoi An City, province Quang Nam) is a “plastic-free hotel” that releases into the environment and no more single-use plastic items.

According to Mr. Do, the problem of plastic pollution is becoming increasingly serious and negatively affects the ecosystem and human health. For the tourism and hospitality industry, the consumption of large amounts of plastic products once and then thrown away has increased the problem environmental pollution.

As a “zero plastic waste hotel”, this unit is committed to eliminating all single-use plastic products from its business operations; Instead, hotels have alternative solutions, such as products with environmentally friendly materials, products that can be reused or recycled.

According to Mr. Vu The Binh, Chairman of the Vietnam Tourism Association, currently, with sponsorship from the Global Environment Facility and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP/GEF-SGP), the Vietnam Tourism Association is actively Deploying the project “Reducing plastic waste in Vietnam’s tourism sector”, to be implemented in 2023-2024.

Accordingly, the project aims to promote activities to reduce plastic waste in the tourism sector, contributing to environmental protection and sustainable development of the industry tourism.

Along with that, the above project will also focus on activities to raise awareness of all levels, industries, businesses, people, and tourists about the harmful effects of plastic waste and a sense of responsibility in reducing it. reduce plastic waste; At the same time, pilot solutions and initiatives to reduce plastic waste at a number of hotels, restaurants, travel businesses, and tourist attractions in the two provinces Ninh Binh and Quang Nam.

According to Mr. Binh, an important content of this project that will be implemented is the development and pilot application of a set of criteria for recognizing plastic waste-free tourism businesses, contributing to replicating management practices to reduce plastic waste. “The Vietnam Tourism Association hopes that through the above project activities, it can send a strong message, calling for the efforts and joint contributions of people, businesses, communities and tourists for the goal: Plastic waste-free tourism in Vietnam,” Mr. Binh emphasized.
