For the tourism and hospitality industry, the consumption of large amounts of disposable plastic products increases environmental pollution. The project aims to promote activities to reduce plastic waste in the tourism sector, contributing to environmental protection and sustainable development of the tourism industry. The project will also focus on activities to raise awareness of all levels, industries, businesses, people, and tourists about the harmful effects of plastic waste and a sense of responsibility in reducing plastic waste. At the same time, piloting solutions and initiatives to reduce plastic waste at a number of hotels, restaurants, travel businesses, and tourist attractions in Ninh Binh and Quang Nam provinces.

An important content of this project that will be implemented is the development and pilot application of a set of criteria for recognizing plastic-free tourism businesses, contributing to replicating management practices to reduce plastic waste. of business.

The Vietnam Tourism Association (VITA) hopes that through the activities of the Project “Reducing plastic waste in Vietnam’s tourism sector” it can send a strong message, calling for efforts and joining hands.
