The Seminar On “Green Tourism On The Cultural Foundation Of Quang Nam”

On the afternoon of September 16th, in Hoi An City, the People’s Committee of Quang Nam province collaborated with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Vietnam and the Quang Nam Tourism Association to organize a seminar on “Green Tourism on a Cultural Foundation”. This is an activity in the series of events for the National Tourism Year – Quang Nam 2022 – Green Tourism Destination, aiming to commemorate the 23rd anniversary of Hoi An Ancient Town and the UNESCO recognition of My Son Sanctuary as a World Cultural Heritage site.

The seminar received cooperation and sponsorship from various organizations such as the German Cooperation for Development (GIZ), the Sustainable Swiss Tourism Program (SSTP), Silk Sense Resort Hoi An, along with the support of many businesses in Quang Nam province. At the seminar, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, Tran Van Tan, stated: “In the coming time, Quang Nam tourism sector will continue to focus on developing green tourism in accordance with the theme of the National Tourism Year 2022. Green tourism is an essential choice for humanity. Green tourism emphasizes human consciousness in preserving nature, cultural heritage, ecological environment, and biodiversity. Quang Nam will fully implement the spirit of green tourism development in each project, plan, specific tourism unit.” Chairman of the Quang Nam Tourism Association, Phan Xuan Thanh, shared: “With the message of ‘Green Tourism on a Cultural Foundation in Quang Nam’, the seminar will focus on solutions and models for local tourism in building a sustainable tourism environment and green growth at the local level.” Speaking at the seminar, Mr. Phung Quang Thang, Chairman of the Hanoi Travel Association, emphasized: “The seminar has created an open forum to discuss the importance of green tourism development based on the cultural foundation of Quang Nam; solutions to exploit the unique cultural beauty of Quang Nam for green tourism development; sharing international experiences, models, and solutions for green tourism development.” On this occasion, the Quang Nam Green Tourism Council praised and awarded the “Green” tourism label to 11 pioneering tourism businesses that have met all the criteria of Quang Nam Green Tourism.
